Andrea Inghisciano e Marco Mencoboni al Janakkala Baroque Festival

Helsinki Baroque Orchestra’s summer festival in Janakkala offers enchanting Renaissance athmospheres, rare instruments and Finnish folk music. Italian organ specialist Marco Mencoboni is the star of the opening concert on Friday, presenting one of the master pieces of the early Baroque period: Frescobaldi’s Fiori Musicali. On Saturday, the Church of St Lawrence acts as a backdrop to some mesmerizing Reneissance cornetto playing by italian Andrea Inghisciano.

Saturday evening is spent at the Turenki Railway Station, where the restaurant offers a buffet to compliment the new folk music played by Ilkka Heinonen Trio. There is also free programme for children on Saturday. Finally on Sunday the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra’s Ensemble plays Renaissance and Baroque pieces inspired by Biblical stories in the concert Susanne un jour, conducted by cembalist Anna-Maaria Oramo.
