I docenti di madrelingua sono altamente qualificati e in possesso di pluriennale esperienza nel campo dell’insegnamento della lingua italiana come lingua straniera. Sono inoltre a conoscenza della lingua finlandese e inglese per facilitare i contatti con gli studenti.
All our teachers are Italian native speakers, qualified and have teaching experience. Italian is the language of instruction but, if necessary, Finnish or English are also used. The course materials are entirely in Italian and enhance language learning.

A1.1
Italian language course for beginners. Students are not required any previous knowledge of Italian. Students will learn the basics of the Italian language in order to be able to communicate in various everyday situations: to greet, to introduce themselves, to ask simple questions, to thank and to apologize, as well as to order in a café and in a restaurant. Students will also learn personal pronouns, question words, regular verbs, nouns and articles in singular as well as in plural, numerals and some prepositions.

This course is suitable for students who have studied Italian for approximately half a year or who wish to repeat the basics. After a little brush up of the basics, students will learn new vocabulary and grammar and deepen their knowledge about Italy and Italians. Students will learn how to talk about leisure time and hobbies, to shop in a grocery store, to describe things, to ask and give directions. As for grammar, students will learn irregular verbs, expressions related to time and place, prepositions and the use of definite articles, adjectives and usage of partitive in plural forms. New vocabulary includes the days of the week, months and how to give directions.

A1.3
This course is for students who have studied Italian for a year. The aim of this course is to develop students’ language skills in listening, text comprehension and both in written and oral production. Students will learn how to describe places such as cities and their tourist attractions, to talk about one’s family and friends and to book a room in a hotel. Grammar structures to be learned include c’è and ci sono structures, verbs venire, volere and dovere, prepositions, demonstrative and possessive pronouns and the usage of si passive form, among others.

This course is suitable for students who have studied Italian for more than one year. As the vocabulary expands, students will learn new grammar structures to increase their range of expression and deepen their knowledge about Italian culture. Students will learn how to narrate different stages of life, to describe characters and time. Moreover, students will learn how to use comparative and superlative forms, to form adverbs, when to use the past tense imperfetto or passato prossimo and also how to use conjunctions.

This Italian course is for students who have studied Italian for one year and a half. During this course students will develop their knowledge about Italian language and culture and increase their vocabulary in contexts such as leisure time, culture, and tourism. Students will learn how to make proposals, accept or reject them, to make an appointment, to express their intentions, to talk about holiday trips and express opinions. In the area of grammar students will learn the stare + gerund structure, accusative pronouns coupled with passato prossimo tense, relative pronouns and the imperative form in formal and informal settings.

This course is for students who have studied Italian for at least two years or more. Students will improve their language skills and gain more knowledge about the Italian way of life and the Italian culture. Students will learn how to listen to different media, to deal with situations related to housing, to express astonishment and displeasure, to congratulate and to accept an invitation. Moreover, students will learn more about the future tense and the comparative forms of adjectives and deepen their knowledge on verbs.

B1.1
This course is suitable for students who have studied Italian for about three years. Students’ language skills will be developed in various ways. The topics include describing one’s opinions, making comparisons, describing a film plot or talking about a TV series, Internet-vocabulary. Structures to be taught are, for example, the comparative of equality, the relative pronoun il quale, trapassato prossimo and appena+passato prossimo, subjunctive.

B1.2
An intermediate course for students who have studied Italian for at least three years. Students develop their language skills and increase their linguistic knowledge in many ways. Lesson topics include traffic, travel, how to give advice, superstition, religion, literature. As for grammar, the use of subjunctive in present and past tense, pronoun verbs and si + passato prossimo will be taught.

This course is meant for students who have studied Italian for at least three and a half years. Students will learn more about Italian grammar and practice their conversational skills with different types of exercises. Topics in the course materials include nature and the environment, wild animals, architecture, food culture. Grammar topics include benché+subjunctive, conditional sentence, passive+essere/venire.

The course is suitable for students who have studied Italian for more than four years. Students will develop their conversational skills and deepen their knowledge of Italian grammar. The topics of the course include travel and technology. As for grammar, students will learn more about the past perfect subjunctive and the past historic tense.

A medium-advanced level course, which is suitable for students who have studied for approximately five years. The course aims at developing students’ language skills in listening and reading comprehension and both oral and written production. Course topics include politics and sports. Students will learn more about subjunctive, coloro che, diminutive and numerals.

The course is suitable for students who have studied Italian for over five years and wish to further develop their language skills in a more functional and more independent direction. In the course, history, sports, immigration, humanitarian crises, wellness and technology will be discussed, previously learned complex structures, such as the subjunctive, will be studied further. Moreover, the use of the indirect speech, entrambi/e, gerund in past tense and possessive adjectives will be taught.

C1.1
Advanced level course for students proficient in the Italian language. In the course different aspects of language use will be developed and at the same time new vocabulary will be introduced and communicative skills will be strengthened. The topics of the course include colloquial language, latinisms, sports and identifying regional variants of the Italian language. Grammar topics include prefixes, augmentatives, cleft sentences, past tenses in indicative mood.

C1.2
Advanced level course for students proficient in the Italian language and for those who wish to expand their linguistic skills and deepen their knowledge about Italy. In the course, topics such as Italian art, food and music will be discussed. As for grammar, the different tenses of the subjunctive, indirect speech and typical features of spoken language, such as filler words and expressions, will be studied. In addition, pages of Italian literature will be read in the course.

This course aims at deepening the students’ cultural knowledge of Italy and refining their language skills. It is meant for students who already have an advanced and independent level of Italian language skills. Welcome to the Italian language conversation class! If you love talking and want to improve your knowledge of the Italian language and culture, this course is for you! Listen to Italian music, watch and comment on short videos, read articles and learn more about vocabulary. Students’ ideas on discussion topics are welcome. The teacher will provide all course materials.

This course is suitable for those who have studied Italian for at least four years and for advanced students who want to brush up on vocabulary and grammar. Ample space will also be given to conversation. Topics: literature and environment. Grammar will focus on present subjunctive and the conditional sentence.

Welcome to our short courses! These courses will develop the students’ verbal and written communication skills through topics related to Italian culture and current matters.
