Italian-Finnish Cooperation in the Arctic: A Great Opportunity

The seminar is organized by the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Institute of Culture in Helsinki, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in collaboration with the Arctic Centre, e-GEOS and the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

The overall objective of the seminar is to strengthen the Finnish-Italian bilateral relations in the Arctic allowing new opportunities of joint participation based on partnership in research, entrepreneurship, social and cultural projects as well as initiatives at bilateral, EU, international and multilateral level.The seminar’s specific goal is twofold:


1.     a firsthand update of Finland’s policy and strategies in the Arctic, underscoring the industrial and technological development projects and the development of the economic, natural, environmental, socio-cultural resources;


2.     to assess new opportunities for investment, business, research projects and partnership development as well as highlight Italian and Finnish know-how and expertise.


The direct participation to the Seminar and connected meetings of stakeholders and business should ensure the underlying dynamics and potential for development, while the contribution of research will suggest ways to make this development sustainable.The seminar is open for interested parties but a pre-registration is obligatory.
