This exhibition at the Espoo Cultural Centre showcases original comics by Gabriella Giandelli and Anke Feuchtenberger, who are official guests of the 2016 Helsinki Comics Festival. Both are internationally acclaimed pioneers in comic art.
Gabriella Giandelli is an Italian illustrator and one of the most important and influential comic book artists in Europe. She creates stories that feel familiar but also have underlying surreal elements in them. With her captivating visual style, the artist creates dream-like scenarios that entice the reader to dive into a supernatural vortex that conceals the unexpected. The stories make the reader think and question what is reality and what is imagined.
Anke Feuchtenberger is one of the most famous German comics artists. Her work combines sensitivity and fierceness in a unique way. Feuchtenberger tells her stories through comics. She creates new narrative dimensions to her stories by drawing visual impressions of the world around her. The reader sees an entity that is formed of loosely but meaningfully interconnected images and words.
The exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the Espoo Cultural Centre.
